abnormal discharge

hi, so i was extremely worried about 3 weeks ago that i might be pregnant. My boyfriend and i had sex and the condom broke when he ejaculated. Fortunatly, i was on the birth control pill (Ortho Tri- Cyclen 21 pack). However, i suspected i may be pregnant because i was having a colored ( brown almost bloody) discharge in my panties while i was taking the pill. Thankfully, i my period came when it was expected, and was normal. I just started the new pack of pills about a week ago when i was sapose to. And i'm experiencing the same thing again. ( the bloody discharge). At first the discharge was white, now a few days later, its back to the brownish, blood color. except this time i know i'm not pregnant because i havent had any intercoarse since. I would like to know what is happening, and what is causing this to happen. if anyone is experienceing the same thing, or knows about this please comment!

It's called breakthrough bleeding.

You may have this for awhile, it's a common side effect of most hormonal birth controls

Maddie is right. Break through bleeding is common until your body adjusts to the hormones. If it persist for 6 months you may want to talk to your doctor and get another pill.

Have you been taking any medications lately, changed the time that you take your pill or even been a few hours off from when you planned to take your pill?

Sometimes you just have breakthrough bleeding and you may not be able to come up with an exact reason for it.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it keeps happening, even then you're probably just going to have to switch pills because something is weird with the hormone level.
