i had a medical abortion 4 weeks ago i was due on today but did a pregnacy test which came back pos. we have been really careful- used condoms. i saw the baby when it came out. is it pos i was having twins before and only lost 1 of them.

If your last menstruation was on Jan. 18th and had an abortion 4 weeks ago (March 24th), I really doubt that you saw a “baby coming out of the womb”. At 9-10 weeks pregnancy age abortion is done with curettage and no baby can be seen. It is normal to miss the period in the first few months after the abortion because the body needs time to establish regular menstrual cycles. A pregnancy test is still positive in the first few weeks after the abortion or delivery until HCG is completely removed.


Theoretically, your suspicion (remained one fetus) is possible but practically that possibility is very unlikely because before and after the abortion ultrasound scans are made.


You can do another pregnancy test and if it is still positive you may want to consult your gynecologist.
