Severe Acute Panceratitis Posted: 04-24-08 22:33pm
My father woke up vomiting , and stated he
was in severe pain, and demanded my mom to
call 911. A few hours after he was
admitted into Methodist willowbrook in
Houston, Tx. They told us he had Acute
Pancreatitis, and gallstones and that on a
scale of 1 to 10 , my father, was an 8 or
9. I overheard the nurses saying they can
not locate the source of an infection
which was also causing concern. I have
read that there is a high mortality rate
with severe patients despite treatment.
The doctor said surgery was an absolute
necessity. Does that help??? A few min ago
they had to insert a tube to his lungs to
assist him with breathing, and they have
already started a T.P.N ,and I have never
seen my dad in so much pain. My fathers x
ray of his lungs came back cloudy. His
heart rate is very high. He has High
Cholestrol,(although he has been
restricted from eating or drinking
anything). My dad has never been sick, is
active , doesn't drink.The doctor
mentioned that before surgery , my father
must be stablized. They have him on some
weird medicine called Florgien or
something...
Has anyone been through this?
