Acute Primary HIV Infection Posted: 03-08-08 17:59pm
Hey Guys this is my first post so go easy
on me Haha.
Recently I was reading some online
articles and stumbled across an article
that spoke about Acute/Primary HIV
infections. Needless to say, after reading
this article I was trembling at the
thought of a past sexual experience that
occurred roughly 2 years ago.
while traveling through south america i
received unprotected oral sex from a
woman who had adult Braces. A few days
beforehand and during this period i was
experiencing a mild sore throat. within
the next few days i developed a fever,
pounding headache , mild night sweats,
malaise and a cough that produced yellow
mucous. I went to see a doctor and he
Diagnosed me with bronchitis. less than a
week later after taking medications i felt
fine, so roughly 2 weeks after possible
encounter with a HIV+ woman. this was
during carnival so my activities included
a lot of drinking, very unhealthy eating
habits , and cigarettes which does not
normally follow my habits at home, which i
feel had something to do with my illness
at the time.
Either way, the symptoms speak for
themselves and although im a little
rattled at this discovery i kept my
composure and went and got tested. so
hopefully in about one weeks time I will
know for sure.
I was just wondering if anyone else here
has had any experience with Primary HIV
infection.
Thanks for your time.

these articles was because i have one
swollen lymph node under my right ear.
while searching for a cause of this i just
happened to stumble across Acute HIV
symptoms

I am glad you went and got tested. From
what I have read, it is possible the woman
had little cuts and tears in her mouth.
You must have had little cuts and tears on
your penis/vulva for HIV to occur.
I'll be thinking about you as you wait for
your test results. Try not to stress out.
Keep busy with other things and find the
courage to get your results positive or
negative. The next time you see a doctor
tell about your experience and definitely
about the lymph node. All the best with
everything.
You did well with your first post.

"You must have had little cuts and tears
on your penis/vulva for HIV to occur."
And she must be HIV positive as well . Even though this
woman did not fall into any of the so
called "high risk groups" to me that
means nothing considering it can happen to
anybody at anytime.
I was curious about the time frame of
Acute HIV infection, all I'm getting is
2-4 weeks for symptoms to begin in my
research. but my symptoms occurred and
then ended before the average "2 week"
wait time for symptoms to occur, but there
is so much contradicting information i
don't know what to believe *sigh*

This so SO true. The boy I was with was
very spry, fresh-faced, 19 years old (I'm
1, in the military,
clean-cut, pretty much the epitome of good
health. But you can't tell by looking at
someone, or if they are in a "high risk
group" or not. For all I know, he may have
even been HIV+ for a few years and even
knew about it.

Please let me know of your results! Just
wanna make sure you're ok.
Um, and as for that sunglasses-wearing
happy face next to the 1...I was trying to
say, I'm eighteen years old.

When my results come in i will be sure to
post them here. I think the anxiety is
causing me more troubles than anything
haha.
And to be honest, even if the results do
come back positive i will still be "ok"
its just time to make some changes in my
life at that point.

I know it's hard. I am trying to be
hopeful about the possibility of being
HIV+ as well. Even though I got negative
results 3 months after, it's still in the
back of my mind. I could just forget about
it and let it go (my boyfriend wants me
to). To tell you the truth, I wish I
could. But I can't, I simply have to go
through with at least one more test in
three months...
I have to keep telling myself, "Whether
I'm HIV-positive or not, I have to get on
with my life." It's definitely not easy,
in fact I was up for a while last night
thinking about it...pondering it. It's
pretty scary.

well. just got my results.
Negative
Considering that my only possible exposure
was nearly 24 months ago i will take these
results and put it all behind me.
To all of you who are still waiting, Dont
lose hope.
And to all of you who's test came back
positive, Never quit fighting.

Thanks for telling us! I am SO happy for
you!!
I wish I could do the same with my
results...But my encounter was only about
three months ago in late November.. It sucks that even
though i tested negative, i have to go
back in for another test...:/ well I don't
have to but I want to. I NEED to.
Anyway thanks for letting us know!! Yes,
definitely put it all behind you...
Lots of love, MissAnonymous
