Girls lately I've been sleepy way too
much. I've been taking multivitamins
thinking it's gonna help. I get at least
7 hours of sleep at night. I go to class
then back at home and I'm just sleepy and
I go back to sleep and i could sleep for
like 4 hours sometimes. Pregnancy is out
the question because I'm on BC. I just
don't know anymore and I hate being sleepy
all the time because when i wake up I feel
groggy as ever. right now i'm just
yarning and yarning. Sometimes when I
yarn I yarn so much my jaw starts to hurt.
Any suggestions?

Go to your doctor and get some blood work
done. It could be as simple as anemia
which is treated with iron. If this is a
change for you don't put off going to the
doctor and insist on getting a work up
done.

i had the same problem as you years ago
and i went to the doctor to get blood
tests but everything came back normal. but
i think as antigone says, you should go to
see if you maybe have anaemia or
something. maybe you could also look to
your diet. i know when i was getting tired
all the time my diet was terrible!

Poor diet is DEFINITELY a culprit of that.
What have you been eating lately? Also,
are you stressed out? Stress will cause
this too.

You might also have narcolepsy or another
sleep disorder. If you have a partner,
it may be worth asking if you snore or
wake up repeatedly with a start. If so,
then you should ask for a sleep study.
Also, try to ensure you are getting enough
fresh air. Working and living in a stuffy
atmosphere or incorrect breathing (ie by
mouth) can cause sleepiness.

thanks ladies. I do have a very poor diet
right now. I'm always eating fast food
and it's so hard to stop. I was talking
about that to my fiance last night. When
I'm on the go or when I just don't feel
like cooking we eat out or we eat fast
food. I always wait until I'm so hungry
that I just want to hurry up and get
something fast. My primary doctor doesn't
take the health insurance that I'm covered
by (champva). That's the insurance I get
since I'm still in school. My dads a
veteran and that's what they offer. I'm
unsure about a diet plan. I can't afford
to see a dietician with a part-time job.

You don't necessarily need a dietician.
Just look up the guidelines on the
internet of what you're supposed to have
during the day (sodium, calories, etc),
and also check into the food groups and
how many servings of that you should be
having a day, and just try to keep it in
mind when you are eating. If you are
looking for something fast, even one of
those TV dinners that are one of the lean
brands/south beach diet/other kinds would
be MUCH better than fast food and it costs
about the same/a little bit less.

For a healthy fast food you can't beat a
decent sandwich you know! Use some good
bread rolls, pitta pocket etc and chuck in
some already-prepared salad, houmus, feta
cheese, olives ... you get the idea! Very
filling and much better than processed
stodge! And if you are really on the run,
carry some bananas, grapes, cherries or
even some dried fruit like dates and figs
in a little sealed container. And drink
lots of water - about 2-3 litres a day.
Dehydration can make you feel very tired,
too.

Those are some great advice. I took a
nutrition class and eat like I didn't
learn a thing! I really appreciate y'all
time and advice. I need to start so i can
start losing weight before my fiance and I
wedding.
Thanks again girl! I'll let y'all know
how it goes and if there is any difference
in my sleepiness.

Oh, also, what kind of multivitamins do
you take? There are some that are catered
specifically towards energy (I know GNC
has a woman's energy formula!).
