Anxiety Attacks and Depression Posted: 03-02-08 05:19am
Hi,
I am wondering whether what I am feeling
is anxiety/stress or something worse. One
night I had an anxiety attack and felt as
though I couldn't think clearly and
thoughts were racing through my mind. The
next morning the problem went away after I
slept. That night though I had another
anxiety attack and the morning after the
problem didn't go away. Ever since then I
feel weirder and weirder... I really think
I'm going crazy, I feel as though I am
honestly losing myself and my identity and
I am unable to think clearly and feel as
though my thoughts are in the back of my
mind. There are times where I feel better,
at points I can feel extremely positive
(but the problem is still there and I try
to ignore it), and worse, other times I
can feel extremely depressed and
demotivated. The worst thing is that over
the past week or so I have been losing my
'personality'. I really don't know who I
am anymore. Is this just adolescent
stress? Or is it something more.
Please help!

Stress can certainly cause anxiety
attacks, and marijuana abuse may cause
anxious-depressive disorders.
Adolescence, in and of itself, does not
cause psychiatric problems, but may make
you more susceptible. Since you do not
detail any particular events of stress
prior to your anxiety attacks, you want to
consider consulting a mental health
professional. Your family physician can
assist you in finding resources in your
area.
