Before pregnancy I was on both lorazepam and clonazepam. I would only take it when necessary but because I have a panic disorder it was helpful in times where I felt like I couldn't leave my room let alone the house!

Well for about 4 months prior to getting pregnant I hadn't used any at all and thought I was pretty much over all this stuff, but since i've become pregnant it's just gotten worse and worse (perhaps worse then it ever has been).

Has anyone used medication for anxiety while pregnant or know of any that are safe? I have an appt with my doctor on thursday to speak to her but I was just wondering if anyone had gone through this. Obviously I would prefer not to use ANYthing (i haven't even taken a tylenol since i got pregnant) but at the moment its making everyday tasks a real challenge.

Extremely eHealthy
Some are safe if absolutely necessary, I used an AD(citalopram) for this in the begining of my pregnancy because of extreme anxiety so there will be something.

Best of luck

Especially eHealthy
clonazepam is a class C drug and lorazepam is a class D drug. personally i wouldn't take either (especially the lorazepam) and i'd see if there's a safer alternative drug out there.

check out safefetus.com for a list of drugs and their classes.

Moo- I will ask this doctor about that medication

Bridget - I know the medications I was taking aren't safe (although I didn't know the specific classes so thank you for clarifying that). I'm sure if my OBGYN prescribed me one she would make sure it was as safe as possible.

Even then though I still think I would feel guilty....but its also not good for the baby to be such a stresscase either. I mean in the hospital the poor kid's heartrate kept bouncing up when mine did.
