Arthroscopic surgery ?
Posted: 04-21-08 11:23am

My MRI report states (RIGHT) I have anterior subluxation of the meniscus and there is narrowing of the tmj joint space with diffuse cartilage thinning and mild subchondral sclerosis of the mandibular condyle. With jaw opened, there is anterior rotation and translation of the condyle without meniscal recapture. The meniscus demonstrates abnormal morphology. There is a small to moderate joint effusion present.

Should I consider arthroscopic surgery?

Thanks...

Wow, your MRI results are so detailed, do you mind telling us where was this done? Mine was pretty vague - on one part it said there is a cyst, then on a next sentence, it says cyst(S). I'm lost - is it on cyst, many cyst.. I was pretty
confused by the report, but yours is very precise and informative.
I am also considering arthroscopic surgery, I'm just waiting to see how much longer I can live with this pain before doing anything too invasive.

Arthroscopic Surgery?
Posted: 04-22-08 13:31pm

My MRI was done @ Baptist Health South Florida at Coral Gables.

I am currently in a lot of pain. The oral surgeon I was seeing recommended I have Arthroscopic Surgery because in his opinion I was past night guards, splints, etc. etc. So he referred me to another oral surgeon that specializes in Arthroscopic Surgery of TMJ; the appointment is this Thursday and wanted to get some opinons on the surgery (whether to do it or not).

Thanks!

I was lost when I first read the report so..
subluxation = partial dislocation of a joint.
sclerosis = Literally, "scar"; the hardening of tissue.
morphology = The form and structure of an organism, in particular its outside features.

Hope that helps Smile

Went to see my new doctor. He recommended doing a arthrocentisis first. I am scheduled for the procedure July 3rd.....

Fingers crossed!
