Basal cell carcinoma & sun spots
Posted: 03-31-08 07:50am

My daughter has had a basil cell carcinoma removed from her forhead about 3 years ago. She has been contemplating having an IPL photo facial which removes sun damage spots from the skin. Is it safe to have this done after having BCC?

Though cosmetically worrisome, sun spots aren't that threatening, but, according to experts, they are a reflection of considerable sun damage. Excessive sun damage which is not threated on time means there is an increased risk of skin cancer. Because of BCC's direct relationship to sun-damaged skin, I think your daughter will only find IPL photo facial, beneficial.
Is best to discuss this with her dermatologist or dermatologist that is expert in age spots removal treatments.
