i wasn't disagreeing that a natural child birth is imposible. my mom was a petite frame and had a 9lb baby and that was years ago. i was basically trying to ease your mind on c-sections. i delivered the twins and my son c-section and was up walking the next day. oh, i delivered them at night. the docs all thought i was weird because i could do it, but motherhood does strange things to you. i wanted my babies bad. so, i recovered quickly. i'm sorry i came across wrong. i just wanted to reassure you that IF they had to induce now, the baby would be ok and that IF you had to have a c-section, they aren't that bad. i even asked to watch them do it. they wouldn't of course. with my son, they were 3/4ths of the way done before i knew they even started. i didn't have pain. they wanted me to use the morphine drip. i refused. so they made me take vicodin at least. i toook it for 1/2 a day and told them to get lost. i delivered my son on a friday night around 10. he had surgery on saturday and by sunday, i got a pass to go to the children's hospital a block away. he was all ready sick at birth. it started when i was 31 weeks. but those extra weeks got him a little healthier to be born. he did die a year later, but that was from something that happened during the 31st week. so, don't be scared. things will go well. no, a regular ultrasound will not give an exact, but as i said before, there are "special" ultrasound machines that are very close. mostly only high risk pregnancies can get them done. but those are awesome. they should offer them to all pregnant women. they measure everything from the blood flow to movement to brainwaves, and even weight. the weight is measured in kilograms though. they were only a couple of ounces off with the twins. but, again, i only meant to ease your mind IF AND ONLY IF, you needed a c-section and/or had to be induced. being 38 weeks is ok to deliver. if you go father, great, even better. but your doctor will know whats best for you and the baby.
