bipolar diagnosis

I need some help. I have just been recently been told that i have bipolar. this is the frist time hearing it. I know alittle about it. I also have some family members that have it.
Can anyone help e to more understand this Disorder.

Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that is characterized by mood swings from depression to mania. There may be a period of "normal" mood in between. The duration of the depression and mania varies in each person. Some people will cycle only once a year. Some people will cycle several times a day. The severity of the cycles will vary as well. Bipolar disorder is a spectrum disorder in that it can range from very mild to very severe symptoms.

Hello, nice to meet you - I am Bipolar I and there is Bipolar II

My Bipolar cycles over years, when I was younger I use to have more trouble with Mania, but later in life I started having trouble with Depression.

It has taken a lot of trial and error trying different medications. But I am on Geodone now, and that has kept me level 3 years now.
