Birth control pill with other pills Posted: 05-13-08 19:13pm
Will taking a daily iron supplement change
the effectiveness of my BCP?
Another quick question: it's been a week
since my period ended, but I'm still
spotting every day. I'm still on my first
pack, so is this normal? Will it go away
by the third month?
There are no data that iron supplements
can somehow interact with birth control
pills.
Did spotting occur after you had started
using birth control pills or you had
spotted even before that?

Only after I started the pills. I was a
"Day 1" starter, but I have not completely
stopped bleeding since I started (about 2
weeks ago).
Spotting like yours could be a side effect
from birth control pills. Such side effect
is common in the first 2-3 months while
body adapts to the pills. You can continue
taking the pills according to the
prescription. If spotting turns in to a
heavier bleeding (metrorrhagia) or does
not stop in 2-3 months you can consult
your gynecologist.
