I have a small black dot that looks like a
blackhead but isn't. It is located over
the center of my rib cage. Should I be
concerned?

I had a black spot on my abdomen but when
I first saw it, it looked like a boil with
it being coneshaped (small). Then it
erupted and while the spot was about a
sixteenth of an inch in size the eruption
got bigger and is not the size of a
nickel. I have been treating it with
neosporin per one doctor and covering it
with a bandaid. Then just last Sunday I
noticed another black spot above this. It
is still flat. I don't know what it is or
what kind of a doctor to see for it.

A dermotologist.....its a skin specialist.
I had a small black spot (thought was a
deer tick) appear on my leg. Turned out to
be malignant melanoma......if for no other
reason, at least go see a Dr.
(dermotologist) for your peace of mind.
Because....if this were to be melanoma,
the sooner you have it removed, the better
your chance of survival......not trying to
scare you, just facing facts! this very
well could be nothing.....but if it were
me, I'd be finding out and soon!

my daughter has had a small black spot on
her arm for years - she has a lot of
freckles and I thought nothing of it (I
had her tested for lime a few years ago
because I thought it was a tick bite). She
is now 15, blond , freckles, and I am
scared to death that I may have been too
dismissive of this black spot. I am going
to call a dermatologist first thing monday
morning but I am sick too my stomach
thinking it may be melanoma and i never
even considered it. Anything else you
could share about your symtoms would be
greatly appreciated

Please keep in touch about what you find
out from dermotologist. If your daughter
has had any really bad sunburns, this very
well could be something that needs
attention. Do not beat yourself up about
this, you are only human....my little girl
turns 25 this year.......Did
learn....malignant melanoma is mutated
cells. Did you know, for instance.....a
scar from falling off a bke or burn from a
stove years later can turn into a
melanoma? Its not just from sun and
tanning beds.Some people of african
american decent who never go into the sun
develop this. Its one cancer doctors do
not play with because they really do not
know that much about it.........it spreads
fast and furious. But, caught in time, can
