Blood Clot Question...symptoms

Does the size of a dvt clot affect which symptoms you will get? Example: if you had a massive or large clot in the deep veins of your leg, or a clot that extended up your leg, would it cause more pain and swelling than if you had a smaller blood clot?

A deep vein thrombosis mostly occur in the femoral or illiac (leg)
dvt symptoms include oedema (swelling), pain, warm skin, fever and calf tenderness. A clot that dislodges becomes an embolism that may travel to your lungs (pulmonary embolism) this can be fatal the pt will experience chest pain, shortness of breath and an array of other symptoms. An embolism can also becomes lodged in the venous system and cause major systemic reactions (stroke). I have personally experienced neither so can not tell you which one would heart more but can imagine that a larger clot will possible cause more damage as it has a higher chance of becoming lodged and cutting off the blood supply.
