Hi I am new here. Very
Happy I am faith, 18 years old and I recently took a blood test. My cholesterol was high, my BUN TEST was 22. Which was high. My BUN/Creatinine Ratio was 28 which was high. Although my creatinine was normal. My potassium level was 5.5. which was high. Also my urine test came out abnormal showing i might have A uti on top of that. My doctor wants me to do my blood test and my urine test over. Lately i have been feeling tired Crying
or Very sad , and i dont drink enough fluids. My stomach sometimes hurts, can this be signs of kidney failure??? I need answers.

Hi and Welcome

I think having another set of tests done is a good idea. Sometimes the labs make a mistake.
Did your doctor order any other tests, scans of your kidneys or abdomen?

When are you getting the blood and urine tests done?

Did you explain how tired you are and your stomach hurts? Sometimes it takes telling them a few times before they understand we feel like crap.

You might want to ask if she can do an ultrasound to check your kidneys and abdomen...

I have an appointment on Friday, she said that she has to go over my test results, whoop de doo... Sad so hopefully she can do something, she said the blood test and urine need to be done right away...yeah it sucks feeling this way. I am almost sure something is wrong with my kidneys.

Oh by the way I had an ultrasound of my pelvic area. I think all came out well because the lady said she couldnt see anything but I wish it was of my kidneys instead but then again I took it because of bad menstrual cramps but now since these blood test came out indifferent, i may have to get one of my kidney.

Welcome
Hope your appointment went well. There are lots of scans and tests they can do for kidneys. I have had IVP, ultrasounds, renal scans, CT scans, cystoscopies. I am not a Dr. so I can't say, but I would keep going. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Try to remain positive...I know how difficult it can be.
We are here for you.
Your doctor might want to run further scans like the ones aflsh mentioned.
Sometimes when they do an abdominal ultrasound they also get a glimpse of the kidneys.
Please keep us posted or pm me if you would like.
I have a long history of kidney problems not just with me but my children also.. Sad
Hang in there.. Very
Happy

kidneys
Thanks. Laughing I will remain positive. I have a question does a swollen abdomen and puffy eyes have to do with kidneys because lately my abdomen has been swollen pretty bad and its not like I eat much, and my eyes are puffy.

It's possible the eyes and abdomen are related to the kidneys.
Are your ankles, fingers, face puffy also?

I hope you get some positive news... angel

kidney
Thanks. So today another doctor calls that I saw a few weeks ago and took a blood test from her and my results are the same thing, but when asked about the elevated bun and potassium and everything she said simply

"blood tests on the counter too long can make your potassium high"

Boy i cant wait to see the other doctor tommorow, what type of help is that?

"blood tests on the counter too long can make your potassium high????????????????"

There is a time frame for some blood tests to be done same for urine tests.
If they sit out for to long wrong results will be the outcome.

My question is why did the lab not test it as soon as the blood was drawn?

I know you don't have answer to that but I would see about having your blood sent to another lab.

Yeah well i saw the other doctor today and she said that, that can be true meaning the blood can be left out too long, but she would just like to test it one MORE time but she also said high BUN can be due to dehydration so she is lookin into it also ordered more blood tests for other areas.
