can you be born with HIV/AIDS or does it have to be picked up from someone else?

Yes, you can be born with it. You can get it from mothers milk or in the womb.

yes. If the father has the virus then more than likely the mother does and vise versa. Is that what you meant? As far as I know the mother is the carrier to the child.

ok so if the mother does not have the virus there is no way it could be passed on to the child?
