I didnt write this, but its exactly how I,and many many other people feel.Have a read its quite interesting.....its more to do with breastfeeding a toddler(which I am doing)but it still covers the whole breastfeeding in public issue.

But I am offended when I see your breasts, and toddlers elicit much more flashing.

Ill give you that I flash people more now than I did with a newborn. He yanks his little head away to see something, and - while I try and pull my shirt over as soon as possible - sometimes Im sure people get a little peep.

First, Ill point out that you likely either HAVE breasts, or like SEEING breasts. (For the occasional gay man who may read this, well youre exempt from this argument) If you have them, why do you care if you see mine? And if you like them, well why are you complaining???

Yeah yeah, I can hear what youre saying. I like breasts, but not in that context

Okay. Then view them in the correct context. The feeding a child and not a sexual organ context.

What? That makes you uncomfortable, too? You have a hard time going back to seeing them as sexual after seeing them that way? Wow. Thats a serious issue for you. Good luck with that.

To be blunt and slightly harsh, I will say that I believe that any person who finds it disgusting has a serious perversion all their own. Whether their issue comes from seeing a child suckling on something THEY would prefer to be sucking on, or just a pretentious I cant see your breasts for moral reasons, it is THEIR problem, not mine, and certainly not the child with whose nutrition I am responsible for.

If you dont want to see, dont look. If you cant stop yourself from looking, either embrace it or repent (because, again, that is your issue). If you accidentally see, then just remember that Im FEEDING my CHILD. Not trying to seduce you.

And then go have some therapy to get over your weird issues.

Rolling Eyes you're wasting your time and everyone elses...this has been argued and argued and argued..i've said it before and I will say it again and again and again until you breastfeeding people get it into your head..if i wish to see boobs i will go to a strip club..i dont think its THAT much of an inconvenience to cover yourself up..be modest..seriously..you cant expect a man..who has looked at boobs in a sexual way since like..12 to not look and not be "perverted" as you say...you are way late in this arugument and this whole discussion is now pointless as no ones views are going to change..but don't expect me to not stare you down if you whip out your boob while i'm trying to enjoy my dinner..if you cant do so much as put a shawl over yourself then...enjoy the negative attention you may get...youre asking for it

If you think feeding a baby is remotely like strippers baring there breasts in a strip club you have problems!Seriously.....

My baby WILL NOT have a blanket on her head, she will pull it off every single time. She wont even let me put a hat on her head.Would you really rather her scream from hunger so your delicate sensibilities aren't compromised. Are you for real??????!!!!

You would rather my baby starve because you would not be able to tear your eyes away from a bit of exposed flesh, are you saying you couldn't look away?Is it too hard for you to look away?

Right......no wonder breastfeeding rates are so low.Feeding a baby has nothing to do with sex, nothing.

I have never once got negative attention,I have had many people congratulate me,many.I'm doing the best thing possible for my child.I doubt you think that though, you probably think formula is the same as breastmilk, just in a different container.

Im sorry to break this to you,but I really dont care what you think,my baby is the most important thing to me.Her full tummy is a way bigger issue to me,then someone thinking I'm trying to seduce them while feeding her.

As for wasting my time, hrmmmm, you replied, didn't you?

Anyway if this makes one breastfeeding mum have confidence to feed her baby in public then it is more then worth while.

oh by the way,I would love for someone like you to 'stare me down',I would have a thig or two to say.I seriously doubt you would 'stare down' another breastfeeding mother.

I've been waiting since my baby was born for someone to do this,or say something stupid,so I can let rip.

But surprisingly no-one has.

Yes, it's a cute lock.

I don't think it needs to be locked, though, if it's gotten back on topic. The "why should you be straight?" thread has become general chat (which is fine - just using it as an example) so if someone else wants to add to this topic then let them. At least I know now that I'm not crazy (or I'm not the only crazy one.) And, to butterfly, I just want to say, way to go. Don't worry what anyone else thinks, just keep doing your thing.

PLEASE...you are the type that annoys me to no end..inconsiderate of others..I respect others, I dont expose myself and when I have a kid my views on that will not change bc unlike you I'm very MODEST, I dont care to share my boob with everyone in the entire restaurant..why does having a baby suck on your boob make it ok to whip it out and show a nip??? It DOESN'T thats the thing! And I dont want to see it period I do not want to see your boob...k? got it? great...and actually the strip club comparison was to get my point across that I do not want to see anything...i'm sure many of the women that readily expose themselves when breastfeeding have been used to exposing themselves before PRE-baby Rolling Eyes please..cover it up...i'm not asking you to smoother your kid with a 10 pound blanket or anything, you can buy something light...actually you know im sure they make things for this purpose(but what do i know right? Rolling Eyes )...and do not tell me i have problems bc i dont want to see your boob...you have problems with respecting others opinions...DONT attack me and tell me I have "issues" or I'm "perverted" bc I dont care to see your nip hangin out everywhere...i never said let your kid go hungry EVER did i...I'm simply about COMPROMISE..thats it..and it REALLY annoys me when people are so anal about compromising and they have to do things their way...you know what..how would you feel if i were a smoker and you and your baby were standing next to me and i didn't hesitate to light up right next to you..heaven forbid I walk away and be considerate of you and your child, why should i care?you can just as easily walk away from me as you asked me to "look away"...my point is..if youre considerate of others, they will be the same to you..but you..quite frankly seem so hardheaded that you cant see the view of others at all, youre basically going to do whatever you please Rolling Eyes

Sweetie, we don’t want it locked because it got of topic, we want it locked because people are starting to attack one another rather than debate the topic at hand. I don’t like the idea of being dethroned as ehealth’s miss. Catty. I worked hard at earning the reputation. Very
Happy

As far as the topic at hand is concerned: having a baby can at times be an inconvenience. You know exactly what I mean. You fed the little one right before you left home to go and do your shopping, and just as you have a trolley full of groceries, your little one wants a feeding. Then you have to leave everything and find a place to feed her. When you come back the staff came across the abandoned groceries, and has put it back on the shelves. Then you start all over again. It’s part and parcel of having a baby. Very
Happy
Same thing will happen when you start potty training. You let junior go to the toilet right before you start your shopping and.. refer above mentioned story.

I have to add though: I always took other people into consideration when I breastfed. I had that same boob in sexy lingerie the night before. Just because I feed my baby with it doesn’t change the way men look at it.

The "Why should you be straight" thread turned into a huge Nightangel bash-fest, and nobody was screaming about locking that thread. But because two mothers got into it (days ago, I might add) everyone's up in arms about locking this thread. It doesn't make much sense to me... especially since, like I said, that was days ago. Both parties stopped even before the "omg lock this plz!!1one!" hoopla.

worrywart and butterfly are debating the topic and, from what I can see, are not bashing each other (although debating heatedly, which as far as I know is NOT against the rules). There's no more attacking going on here, so could we please stop with the lock-begging? Things are fine now.

agreed..though I will say that I do not appreciate being called "perverted" or being told I have "issues" just for stating my opinions

PLEASE ... if things get out of hand report posts immediately to avoid further personal attacks. If you are ignoring this and watching the thread to "see how it goes", you are not helping.

Should this thread be locked or not?

Should I remove the negative comments and keep it open?

i think things are fine for now unless anyone else has a problem...but if anyone is being attacked next time i wont hesitate to report..while this is a debate forum peoples views need to be respected and name calling is not necessary to get your point across

Would you cover yourself in a blanket whle your having your lunch, well your baby shoud be able to be feed in public, and if that means seeing the mothers breasts then so be it, after all thats what they were made for.
