A couple years ago I fell going down some
steps and did not let go of the handrail.
I went to the ER and x-ray show nothing.
Pain was coming from lower portion of
scapula. They sent me to physical therapy
for several weeks. It did not help as I
was still having pain. I have lupus and
Inclusion Body Myositis. When seeing my
Rheumatologist the next time, I mentioned
problem with shoulder, he sent me to an
Orthopaedist who sent me for PT, again did
not help. I took it upon myself to try
accupuncture, did not help, chiropractor,
did not help, massage therapy, did not
help.
I went back to the Ortho, a few weeks ago
and explained that the pain had been
ongoing for a couple years. She sent me
to have MRI - it showed nothing. She has
put me on Ultram ER 200 mg daily, it helps
some, but I still have some pain.
The only time pain goes away is when I sit
down with ice pack, but I have to much to
do to sit around all day with ice pack.
The pain is in my lower right scapula and
goes around rib cage to under arm. It is
a burning pain. HELP

Hello Debralj,
Welcome to the forum!!
Sorry to read about your unfortunate fall
and the resulting pain you have
experienced.
You have REALLY tried to find the answer
and find a way to eliminate the pain with
various techniques. It hurt to read that
nothing has really helped at this time.
Debra, may I suggest that you seek out the
very best spinal surgeon/neurosurgeon who
you can find in your area. Make an
appointment to see the two at the top of
your list. I really believe you need to
have the advice of a truly spinal
specialist. In my opinion spinal
surgeons/neurosurgeons are the most
knowledgeable. AND you want the BEST you
can find for yourself.
I wish you the best. Do let us know how
things go.
Take care.

THANK YOU for the suggestion. I had
wondered about a neuro, but had assumed
the ortho would have suggested that. I
will now have to make an appt with either
my gp or rheumy to get in to see a neuro.
THANKS again....I will keep you informed
as to what happens.

Hello Debra,
You have learned a most important lesson.
Never assume anything.
Is there any way you can just make an
appontment with a neurosurgeon directly
rather than going though the other
doctors. In my opinion far better for you
to decide which specialist you want to
see, rather than your GP just sending you
to one.

I have the same thing. Especially when I
set at the computer to long. Burn! Mine is
in th rear shoulder and neck area. I'm not
sure if posture has anything to do with
it. But, when I feel it coming, I log off
and rest for and hour or so. Mine almost
sound like mucsle and ligement pain. Ever
since I fell and broke my back last
Christmas hanging lights inside. Won't do
that again. Just call me cement girl. LOL
I did have a mild compression facture back
in 1985 when my car was at a full stop and
someone rear ended me going 45 mph and
pushed me into the outside line. OMG! I
could have been hit twice by another
oncoming care. I was very lucky to come
out of it that easy.
