cancer treatment side effects Posted: 04-14-08 21:00pm
Hi everybody, I just got over testicular
cancer less than 6 months ago:
I don't have vomiting, I occasionally have
headaches or migraines but nothing major
I do sometimes forget how to write but
maybe that's from being on the computer
too much
I was swimming a few nights ago and when I
went a little deep I felt intense pressure
behind my eye, I still seem to have it
I didn't have an MRI for my cancer, I did
recently get neuropathy which I think is
from the chemo, I'm going to see the
neurologist on friday but I'm wondering if
I should mention my concerns about brain
cancer?
sometimes I have balance problems but I
attributed that to gabapentin which I'm
taking for neuropathy
I'm not sure if it's me being worried
after just getting over a different kind
of cancer or not

Most common side-effects of gabapentin in
adult patients are dizziness and
drowsiness.
Did you start the usage of this drug for
post-operative chronic pain or other type
of neuropathy? Do you feel pains in the
area where surgery was performed?
Do you have the eye pressure constantly
every day starting when you wake up and
continue through the day?
Do you get pressure between your eyes,
too?
Are you experiencing a stuffy or runny
nose?
Have you noticed that leaning forward or
moving your head often increases the
pressure?

I started gabapentin from my oncologist
for what I'm sure is neuropathy but I
haven't confirmed that with a neurologist
yet. My treatment ended in November but
all of a sudden in February I have the
tingling feeling in my hands if I stretch
them out and seem to have it in my feet
especially right toe all of the time. My
oncologist said I was borderline on B12 so
I'm taking that too.
I no longer have pain from the surgery.
I don't constantly have pressure or
between the eyes, I tend to get a runny
nose every now and then.
I do notice increased pressure when I bend
down actually. I've had the pressure
behind my eye before actually but it
disappeared.

Pain or pressure between eyes, along with
nasal secretion and headache, are symptoms
of sinusitis (inflammation of air-filled
hollows located in facial bones around
eyes and nose).
People who experience changes in
atmospheric pressure, such as while
flying, climbing to high altitudes, or
swimming, risk sinus blockage and
therefore an increased chance of
developing sinusitis Also, highly
chlorinated pools or pools containing
large amounts of chemicals can cause
damage to the delicate mucus membrane
linings of the nose and sinuses. This
damaged mucus membrane can easily be
invaded by viruses or bacteria leading one
to contract sinusitis.
