Chest Ache

Please can somebody help me?
For the last 3 weeks i have been getting chest and left arm pains, well they have been more aches then sharp pains. The ache in my chest feels quite deep and is a pulsing radiating pain going around the left side of my body, i can feel it in my left shoulder and in my back, but the worst I've felt it is in the palm of my left hand and my thumb??!? I feel like i go out of focus and feel really quite light headed. I wake up in the middle of the night with palpitations also its uncomfortable to lay on my left side as i feel a deep internal pressure. I am 30 years of age and have just recently stopped smoking (2weeks now) after 15 years. I dont get that much exercise but changing that as we speak.
I have had and ECG and blood tests all of which are fine. However my triglyceride levels are 3 times what they should be but the doctor said overall my cholesterol is ok? I am feeling worn out from the worry of possible heart disease or eminent heart attack, this thing is really scaring me and i really don't know what to do. The Doctor said it could be costochondritis but the thing is i dont feel any pain in the ribs nor when i breath any differentially or if i press anywhere on my rib cage. I do get quite bad indigestion and heart burn generally and also have been suffering lower abdomen cramps. I just wondered if there was anyone out there that could give me some advise, help, reassurance.....

If the pain was related to your hart the ECG would probably show something, but didn't show anything. It is good that you stopped smoking and planing to do more exercises. But your triglyceride level is that what concerns me the most. Can you tell me the precise value for the triglyceride level in the blood?

You will probably need to start taking some medicine for lowering the triglyceride level in the blood. Some medicine from the group of fibrates (fenofibrat, bezafibrat, gemfibrozil) is recommended in case where only triglycerides are elevated and cholesterol is normal. Lowering the body weight, more physical activity and reduced alcohol and sugar intake are also requested.
Abdominal ultrasound can be done to evaluate those abdominal cramps.

Increased levels of cholesterol or triglycerides can't cause chest pain directly. Raised blood fats are one of the risk factors for developing atherosclerosis of the heart's blood vessels (coronary arteries). Atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries is usually manifested with chest pain. Atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries is not typical for your age but you should be careful in the future with the risk factors for atherosclerosis: smoking, diabetes, high blood fats, hypertension, overweight, low physical activity etc.
I believe that psychic stress is the main cause for your chest pain, for now.

Again many thanks for your speedy response. I guess these pains can be caused by anxiety. I just wish this panic would subside. So could my heart be damaged hence the pain in my chest. or could my arteries be damaged from the high fat diet and smoking? if so can i reverse this?
