Chronic constipation Posted: 04-27-08 20:37pm
I came on here last October complaining of
being constipated for 2 weeks. Taking a
fiber supplement seemed to end that. But
I've been constipated a lot lately. For
the last several months, I'd say I'm
constipated about 60-70% of the time. What
causes constipation like this? Is there
something seriously wrong with me? I
haven't told anyone about it because I've
been too embarrassed, but I'm starting to
think that something's really wrong. Now
today, I'm feeling pain in my anus (this
isn't the first time). Bowel movements
aren't infrequent, just really hard a lot
of the time. I'm 16 years old. What do I
do?

Chronic constipation can be due to diet.
Eat apples or apple sauce. Apple pectin in
the apples will help to hold water in the
stool and it won't be so hard. Conversely,
if you have diarrhea apple pectin will
absorb the excess water so stool won't be
so runny. Try this. I have used it in the
hospital for my patients and at home for
my children. It works like a charm. Drink
a bit more water as well.

you could also try switching to 100% whole
wheat or whole grain bread. This is good
to regulate and soften. Also bran cereal,
blue berries, and yogurt brands such as
activia will give you an easier time.
