So friday evening I was starting to feel congested, but I thought it was just sinus trouble. But now that its Sunday I have a lovely cough and I am sneezing every five minutes. Is there anything I can take that is safe during pregnancy? I can't call the doctors till tomarrow and I figured if anyone has any tips to help relieve this I would appreciate it. Thanks everyone!

This is from the book of medications my doctor gave me that are safe during pregnancy:

Dextromethorphan Syrup (Benylin, Balminil)
Throat lozenges are fine
Acetaminophen (Tylenol, Atasol)
Nasal Spray saline solution (Salinex)
You can used Xylomethazoline (otrivin) or oxymethazoline (Dristan) for up to 3 days.
If it's allergies Claratin and Reactin are fine as well

Just my personal opinion though, if your not extremely uncomfortable or it's really not that bad I probably wouldn't take anything unless necessary.

It sounds like allergies to me. They've been going around down here too.

I've been told that Benadryl is safe for pregnancy, but I personally opted not to take anything during my pregnancies just to be on the safe side.

There's a product called Simply Saline that can help you recover without using medicine. You squirt it up your nose and let it drip back out. Kind of gross, I know, but it's supposed to flush your sinuses out and help to clear away the nasties. And there's no chance of medicines or chemicals possibly harming your baby.

I had a miserable cold/flu a couple weeks ago, it lasted over a week, I could hardly breathe. I was just suffering, but I never took a thing. and it went away by itself. Actually correction I took benedryl once.

Thanks everyone! I just took a few tylenol last night and went to bed. I feel really congested this morning but its not to bad so I think I might be able to fight it off. Its funny cuz before pregnancy I would of just downed some nyquil but now I am even afraid to take a tylenol. lol. Thanks and I appreciate all the help!!
