Hi for some time now i have had blood and mucus in my stools i will often go for 3-4 days without going to the toilet but then go three or more times in the next few hours i also notice that my urine flow reduces until after i empty my bowels when i seem to get a better flow i have slight discomfort in my gut i have recently become very fatigued but cant seem to make the appointment with gp hate and detest the thought of being examined

Blood and mucus in the stool could indicate bowel inflammation (colitis). Colitis is usually caused by infection but there are other possibilities like ulcerative colitis which is a very serious condition.


Microbiological examination of the stool can be requested first. If the condition continues to persist you can request a colonoscopy.
