Constipation and straining Posted: 04-29-08 00:49am
So I have 2 children, 1 & 2 years old.
Both pregnancies I experienced
constipation and doctor said that is fine.
However, I still strain so much to go to
the bathroom even when its non hard stool?
I would say about 80% of the time I am
straining, and pushing on my stomach to
evacuate. There is only a few times where
I feel like its not enough, generally i
feel immediate releif. My main problem is
that I am having to strain so much even
for soft stool. I just started to really
increase my fiber intake, I try to
remember to take colace everyday, dont
excercise much but I am only 21 years old.
I eat a healthy diet, drink lots of
liquids, just recently cut out diet soda.
Im terrified? Dont know what to do...I
know its possible I have hemmoroids too
because sometimes its red on the toliet
paper.
My grandmother told me about something
called "Colon Cleanse" dont know much
about that.

A lot of vitamins and medications can
cause constipation. Try taking stool
softeners daily or even glycerin
suppositories if you need immediate
relief. Yes, if there is red blood, it is
probably internal/external hemorroids.
Nothing to be alarmed about, unless your
condition does not subside after taking
the stool softeners on a regular basis.

I dont take any vitamins or medications.
How often should I take stool softners? I
have never taken them on a regular basis.

I have to take them every day. It helps a
lot! It is miserable to be constipated
and the straining can cause hemorroids, or
if you already have them due to giving
birth, the straining can cause them to
become inflammed. I take a stool
softener daily - works for me. You can buy
them at Wal-Mart, or your local pharmacy.
