I believe I have TMJ dysfunction because
my jaw clicks several times when I open
and close. I don't grind my teeth, but I
believe this was the result of sleeping
with my mouth open and on one side of my
face predominantly for many years.
My question is, as I am a poor graduate
student, how much would treatment cost? I
have not been to a dentist, ortho, or
specialist yet, so I would love any
information about the costs of any and all
usual procedures. I don't believe my
disorder is very serious, as I do not get
any headaches or much facial pain yet, but
I would like to get it treated ASAP to
prevent it from getting worse.
Any help would be very greatly
appreciated. Thanks

well the cost really depends on what kind
of doctor you go to, which state you are
in, what doctor you go to and what
treatment you are considering. splint
therapy can be as cheap as 500 dollars.
check with your insurance company to see
if they cover tmd---most companies dont
but there are the few that do to a certain
extent. also if you talk to the doctor
they will set up a payment plan tha tou
can afford. However since you dont seem to
be bad you may jus twant to see if a
chiropractor cant help you----it could
also just be stress so try to limit your
stress as much as possible-----are there
any other symptoms tha tyou have?

No, I don't have other symptoms besides
the clicking and the pain from the
clicking. I don't experience any other
pain except when I open and close my mouth
all the way. Is it possible I just have a
misaligned jaw?
