I'm about 5 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing painful cramping(not excruciating but more painful than menstrual cramps). I have read and understand that cramping is normal for many women, however, I was wondering if this symptom is normal when experienced on and off throughout the day, everyday?

As long as the cramping isn't accompanied by bleeding you should be fine. If the pain is one-sided you should get it checked out, but otherwise it's normal.. just try & alleviate the pain with a hot water bottle or a warm bath like you would for period pains. I hope you feel better soon.

I had that too. I would not be worried again unless you're bleeding. However, I did have that, but it was accompied by blood. Which ofcourse was scary.- WHenever I bleed I went straight to the ER. I wasn't bleeding heavy it just happened from 4 weeks - 3 1/2 months. Just take it easy, and relax.. Good luck! Keep us updated! Smile

I am almost 9 weeks along and have had cramping the whole time. But I have actually determined most of my cramping is associated with bloating. I wouldn't worry to much like the girls said unless you have bleeding or unbearable pain. Good luck hun!

drink more water if you're worried about it and it might help.I didn't have much of this, although my side hurt for a few days once. My mom and my sister both had early braxton hicks contractions because they were dehydrated. i made sure to get my eight glasses a day and didn't have any crampind until about 22 weeks (Ironically when I forgot my water bottle and was out and about the whole day) it only lasted for about a minute though. I had to stand up to get off the bus and when I did so it went away. Changing positions is supposed to help acording to the books and for me it did. I hope you get some relief!

crapming is ok as long as there's no bleeding.
its your uterus stretching to make room for the growing baby and can be caused by bloating, if the pain gets to be too much, or you think its something to be concerned with, you can always go to your doctor.
Or talk to your doctor about the cramping, they will answer any question you have.
But its only really serious when there is bleeding with the cramping.
