Cymbalta and xanax
Posted: 04-29-08 20:06pm

I just began 30 mgs a day of Cymbalta and for some reason my DR lowered (I think by accident) my xanax from 2 mgs to .5 which is a HUGE jump. I take it only at night before sleep. It seems to ward off night terrors.

Anyways, I took my first dose yesterday and literally 30minutes I felt a difference. I felt a bit disconnected then after I forced myself to get motivated I had bursts of energy and almost a surreal feeling of happiness and content.

I slept well thanks to my xanax ( I still have 8 days left of 2 mgs) I woke up and took it today and felt just .... weird. Not bad just content and not anxious.

I have some energy that I didn't have before and I feel more rational. Now I know this isn't common to feel any effect this soon on a GAD med but I swear to god I do.

i've tried SSRI"s n the past and they did not help what so ever. Thankfully there is now SNRI's and I hope this is what I've been needing. I have PTSD and GAD.

Anyone have any positive experiences with this med?

If by 'this med' you mean Cymbalta personally it saved my life. Or more to say it saved my sons life because I had severe PPD and Cymbalta changed everything. I am on 30mgs a day and two 2mgs of xanax for anxiety then for night tremors/sleep anxiety they have me on 50mgs of serqual.

After reading your post again are you saying that after taking the cymbalta you feel weird or that only the .5 of xanax having you feeling weird?

Each drug (even antibiotics, have to reach what we call a "Blood Level". Meaning that it takes awhile for the body to get use to somethng new in the system. Normally, after about a week, you body has gotton use to this new drug and most symtoms should subside. Now, if the symtoms are very severe the first couple of days, you should really stop the medication emmediatly and call you doctor as it could be you body is rejecting the medication altogethr. All in all, most medication will have some slight to moderate side effects that first week untill you reach that balanced level. If you feel something is wrong, always consult with you doctor to make sure. I know when I was a medical assistant, a patient would call me on day to of an antibiotic and say they did not feel any better. I always told them if you not any better by day four, call me on day five and we will address it. Again, "blood level".
