About a week ago I suddenly developed a
dark area in my vision. I am 50. Healthy.
No high blood pressure or diabetes. The
dark area is in my left eye, central, not
affecting periferal vision. It is a bit
like a round oil slick, I can see through
it, but cannot focus through it for
reading. I went to A&E because the
problem developed after I had been using a
pressure washer on some paving, so I
thought I might have got something in it.
The doctor put some dye in my eye and
something to enlarge the pupil, but could
see nothing. After using antibiotic drops
for a few days with no improvement, I went
back to see another eye specialist. He did
the same tests but could not see anything.
He used a very long phrase and said said
something about blood cells, and that the
problem usually sorts itself out. I am now
waiting for a further appointment (6-8
weeks) for more tests for a more accurate
diagnosis. Does anybody have any ideas
what it might be. I am wondering whether
to see a specialist privately, which might
be quicker.
