Digestive problems
Posted: 04-26-08 08:28am

2pm each day i get gas, bloating and sharpe pain over my bladder area. Feels like i should pas gas but can't. Hurts so much i feel like quitting job, going home, lying in fetal position. Happens every work day. High stress job, but i think it's food alergy related. I've never been tested.. should i get tested?

When not working ( sometimes 3 months or so i'm between contracts, i don't have any issues ). In my job i sit all day at a computer.. is it a bowel structural thing that when sitting get's trapped?

Had blood, fecal, urine tests. Had barium enema. Had rectal exam (fun!).. no issues.

1. Could daily gas bloating and sharp pains be related to diet.. what should i 'go-off' to try?

2. Could there be a structural piping issue that could be corrected?

is there something i could take in the afternoon which would null the pain?

According to your information, that your symptoms (bloating and sharp pain in the lower abdomen) happen only when you work at your office and never at home when resting and all the negative medical tests, it seems to me that your problem may be stress related. If you had some “structural piping issue” you would have the problem all the time no matter if you are working or resting. A colonoscopy can tell us if you have an organic disorder in the large intestine. Sitting in front of the computer should not cause any digestive problems. Diet can cause digestive difficulties but that should not be related to work or an exact time. Stress related digestive difficulties are usually put under the category “Irritable bowel syndrome” (IBS). You can take a spasmolitic drug in the afternoon to relief the pain.
