dillantin and keppra
Posted: 06-15-08 20:44pm

I am getting off keppra and I am taking dillantin as a back up to go off them. I was on dillantin a year ago for 8 years but then they stopped working so that is why the doctors put me on them for a short term until I get off the keppra as it was having too many side effects. I have been on the dillantin now for 2 weeks with 1 100mg dillantin in the morning with a 500mg of keppra and 2 100mgs of dillantin at night with another 500mg of keppra. I have so far cut out 1000mgs of keppra. The serum level just recently after increasing dillantin to 2 at night instead of 1 has increased to 78 from 36 with just 1 dillantin at night. Doc siad increase to 2 dillantin at night then it went to 78 for the serum level. I am a female and I have partial complex seizures. When I was on just dillantin I had tonic clonic then I went to keppra and My pattern changed to complex partial. The problem is I am so dizzy and unsteady on my feet since taking dillantin with keppra. I have shaking of the hands back again since being put on the dillantin and the gum bleeding. But the dizziness is virtually all day. I drink water it might go for 1 hour and then its back. Yet at night it doesn't occur. My doctor suggested that because I still have the night time dosage in me in the morning that is why I am so dizzy and unsteady on my feet. So she said cut out the half keppra at night. I am worried that just having 2 100mgs of dillantin at night won't be enough. What do you think.? thanks regards collcat46.

Sorry no one has responded o your question. If I were you, I'd call my medical care physican and talk to them about your concerns. Its obvious you are really worried about the dosage and your health. Your physican can explain your dosage more clearly and help yout your mind at ease! Have a blessed day!
