Discrimination For Transplant Patients Who Have Used Marijuana
Posted: 04-30-08 15:34pm

A patient waiting for a transplant should receive the same consideration as the next person.

Even in states where medical Marijuana laws are in place, a patient who receives a prescription for the benefits can now be discriminated against by hospitals and transplant teams. In some cases, they are deemed unsuitable because of their prior Marijuana use.

That just seems so wrong. Have we become a society where the few can decide who lives and who doesn't get the chance to? Embarassed

I saw part of this on the news. It is sad. I wonder if they knew it was MEDICAL and not because he was out getting high on meth or further ruining his life/health with heroine, etc.

I feel very bad for that man and his family. Will they look at his case again? I know it takes a long time to get an organ... I hope the person who got it instead has a full life.

For The People Sitting Up On Their Throne Of Judgement
Posted: 05-01-08 19:36pm

Making the decisions, making the call of who they decide is worth receiving a transplant, considering maybe the receipient might be prone to drug abuse, I have a question. How many of these same people on the staff of hospitals, the teams doing the transplants, the entire team is totally free of substance abuse? How many of them surely enjoy their wine, cigarettes, or whatever makes them relax after a day at work?

I don't use marijuana, but if I were suffering from HIV/AIDS and it helped me to survive, you bet your life, I would consider it an amazing gift from God given to me to ease my suffering.

HomerX has posted some amazing information on the use of medically prescribed marijuana. Thanks Homer.
