I agree too with Zanny and krystine. It's
hard to tell the cause. It could have
been something that would have happened
even without the soda, like a genetic
defect, a medication the mom was taking,
etc
I have a friend that can only drink 7UP
when she is pregnant because her morning
sickness is so bad and it's the only thing
she can keep down. She has to go on IVs
every time she is pregnant. She has many
children, and all of them are ok. So the
other things that are in Coke and other
colas are ok, except the caffeine, which
as I said before isn't really that much
unless you were to drink a ton and I mean
who even drinks that much any way.
You would want to be worried about how
much salt is in those things, how you
aren't drinking anything else (or eating
much of anything else because who has room
for food with 6 cans of pop every day??)
and how it's going to keep you awake and
jittery, and on a low nutritional level.

i will suggest you don't try this because
its risky for you and your baby also.So
don't take this type of thing during
pregnancy.

I think she means 6 cans of coke a day as
a limit.

Thanks for your thoughts and advices:) Posted: 03-25-08 19:46pm
Hello Again All...:)This is a personnal
account of what has happens to my family
member the first 2 of 3 pregnancies..I
know about the doctors explaining the
caffiene situation to you..She was
addicted to caffiene...Her caffiene was
Pepsi and her doctors encouraged her to
wean herself to Clear Decaffienated Sodas
after the 2nd birth:(.Too much of anything
can affect a baby such as
smoking/drinking/eating to much junk
food..Whatever Mom Drinks/eats,Baby
Eats/drinks..Caffiene may not have been
the sole problem but it was a Major Factor
in her situation...Doctors treat
situations differently according to their
patients and experience. Just remember to
take peoples advice/help with a grain of
salt..This is a site were people can voice
personal accounts to help others and I
just wanted to share a this experience
because it was similar to yours..Sorry if
I made anyone feel any way..Thanks for
your time..Many blessings and prayers to a
happy healthy baby..

yeah we know that dannyboygirl.
but there is no way that caffine could be
the problem for that. Other things go
along with defects with the baby. Not
solely caffeine drinks.
We know its a site to voice opinions, as
we are doing the same voicing an opinion
as to other things that can and probably
did go along with your sisters baby. Not
only caffeine, that doesnt make sense.
I dont see how this is similar to mine as
i have not had my baby yet, and do not
drink caffeine 24/7 right now. I was
asking the question if my amount of
caffeine could have effected the baby,
which im sure it hasnt as i have had lots
of replys about ceffeine during
pregnancy.
Obviously pregnant women arent going to
drink caffeine only or 6 cans of it
everyday, because instead of a nerve
defect, it could cause a miscarriage,
because it speeds up the heart and could
cause a problem with the heart. other
things go along with a nerve defect not
caffeine.
