early period & nuva ring gone Posted: 06-12-08 08:09am
I have been on the ring for about 9 months
now and this morning I woke up to a bit of
a surprise: my period a full week early. I
checked to see if my NuvaRing was there,
and its not. I talked to my boyfriend and
he found it in his room after I was there,
which means it must have fell out sometime
during intercourse. This would be my 3rd
week in my cycle and I was due to take it
out on Sunday evening. Generally when I
take it out on a Sunday it takes until
Wednesday for my period to come, so this
would seem to be just jumping my regular
schedule by a week minus a few hours. I am
slightly worried though, since I don't
know at which point during intercourse it
fell out or how effective the hormones
continue to be in the hours after it comes
out. I did get my period though, so how
worried should I be?
And before you tell me, yes, I'm going to
get a new one to use once this period is
done and will use condoms for another
month or so to be safe.
Your period came earlier probably because
your ring fell out and hormone level
decreased. This is a withdrawal bleeding
not a real period.
You got your "period" so you shouldn't be
worried about pregnancy.
You can put another ring 7 days after this
"early period" started.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Got the new
ring and everything seems to be A-OK now,
and I'll be more careful in the future
about checking if it falls out.
