Early termination pregnancy Posted: 03-14-08 09:05am
Hi all,
I had sex with my wife on 10th day of
cycle(cycle started on 11th feb and 10th
day of the cycle was 20th
feb),unfortunately condom was torn.
She was supposed to have the cycle started
on 11th March(may be 1 or 2 days before or
after, normally her cycle is regular and it
is 28 days).
She did not bleed on 11th march which was
supposed to be her first day of the cycle.
the main problem is between 10th day and
14th day when the most fertile day comes
for the woman, difference is only for 4
days and What I know that sperm stays for
5 days in vagina and if ovulution occurs
that it can be a pregnancy.
Now it has been almost 25 days(20th feb
since the time we had sex and condom was
torn and untill 14th march).
We do not want child now. Could you guide
us whether is it too late(it is been
almost 4 weeks(25 days) to terminate the
early pregnancy if it is?
I know start of cycle varies for each
woman and she may be late for some days
also but I am thinking if somehow she is
pregnant then what are the ways, is
medical treatment by abortion pills option
is good, I mean taking 2 mifepristone and
misoprostol under doctor supervision is a
good option or not? I am from India and I
donot what are the options to terminate
the early pregnancy, do any one of you
have any idea about relaiable methods to
terminate pregnancy in India.
What do you think it has been 25 days
since the time we had sex on 10th day and
she wa supposed to have cycle started but
she did not bleed on 11th march on which
she was supposed to have her first day,
should we wait for some more time(and if
yes then how long should we wait) so that
her cycle starts and then go for the
pregnancy blood or urinte test.
could any one of you let me now from your
experience that is medical treatment by
abortion pills harmfull for woman health
or is there any other complicacy or most
important does it impact future pregnancy
at all?
I am impatiently waiting for your reply
kindly give me some detailed answer.
Thanks,
Mahen

It is too late to prevent pregnancy, but
not too late to terminate it if she is in
fact pregnant. She can go get an
abortion.
However, if its been 25 days since you had
sex and she is late for her period, she
could now take a test and it would be
accurate. She should buy a pregnancy test
and make sure to take it with her first
morning urine, because that has the most
concentrated pregnancy hormone in it.
If she is pregnant and you want to abort
the baby, you should go to her obgyn and
she will guide you on the process.
However, first I would make sure to talk
to your wife and make sure that abortion
is definitely what she wants too. It is a
decision you must make together.
If there is a mistake like this again,
there is a pill you can buy over the
counter called Plan B. If you take it
within 72 hours of the unprotected sex
(the earlier the better), it will help
prevent pregnancy as another method of
birth control.

Thanks for your kind answer, I still would
like to understand about the complications
that may arise due to abortion with the
pills, I mean mifepristone and
misoprostol.
From your experience can you tell is there
any future pregnancy complication because
of using these tables that may arise.
Is this method really good for early
pregnancy temination, from the start of
first date of her last cycle it has been
about 32 days until today. So if we go for
abortion assuming that she is pregnant is
this time Ok.
Thanks,

Yes, abortion using the pill can be used
up to 8 weeks of pregnancy. After 8
weeks, a medical abortion would be used.
Abortion via the pill is better when its
done earlier because the embryo is smaller
and less bleeding should occur the earlier
its done. She would probably experience a
bit of pain and a lot of cramping, but its
95-97% effective in aborting the baby. It
essentially causes a miscarriage. She
could take the pills in the privacy of
your own home which is nice.
It shouldn't have any effect on her future
ability to get pregnant.
However, I would not even be worrying
about all of this yet. You should first
get a test to see if she even is pregnant!
It takes the average couple a year of
trying to conceive

It is so nice of you to share knowledge
with me as now a days I am very depressed
just because of this reason that she is
having cycle coming as she is supposed to
have.
You are right that it takes for most of
the couples to get one more into their
life but problem with me is that condom
just broke exactly on the day when it is
supposed to be risky, it was 10th day of
her cycle and condom broke and what I know
is that semen stays for about 3 days or 4
or 5 and ovulution period also comes
somewhere around 14th day this is the
reason I am most worried as ther is a
difference of just 4 days when I had sex
and when she would have ovuluted, and
after that she is supposed to have cycle
coming which has already been 3 days late
as per todays date.
What do you say about this?
Thanks,

You are right that it is technically one
of the riskier days, but I still would not
worry until she takes a pregnancy test.
Late periods can be due to many things
such as stress. Has she been stressed out
lately?
Buy a test today (dollar store tests are
just as reliable and accurate as name
brand tests if you are worried about the
cost of it), and have her take it first
thing tomorrow morning. That way it will
ease your mind and you will know one way
or another. Try your best not to get TOO
worried and worked up until you know for
sure.
Even if she does wind up pregnant, its not
the end of the world. There are steps
that can be taken to end the pregnancy if
abortion is what you both decide is best.
It is very scary, but you and your wife
will make it through this together. You
will also be better informed for next
time. I would even recommend buying a box
of Plan B now and keeping it in your
medicine cabinet just incase if this ever
happens again so you can be protected
right after by taking the pill.

You are right next time I will sure keep
pill so that I can always take if
something wrong happens, yes she is with
me infact we both are happy to go for
this. Moreover i think since it is not
been quite long just about 1 month over
and I think inside it is nothing so though
always abortion kind of word strikes the
mind but I would not take it in that way
though if she comes out to be conceived
but these are very early days and almost
it is just the starting but it takes some
more time to actually become something
inside womb.
As we both are happy not to have baby now
and it is a mutual understanding so there
seems to be no problem but I was just
wondering that people who go for this
early pregnancy through pill really do not
suffer in future pregnancy and health of
the woman also remains good, i mean taking
these pills really should not create any
problem from health point of veiw, Am i
right ?
Thanks,
Mahen

Hi Sarah,
How can I share my happiness now, just
after writing my last reply to you I got
news from my wife that she just got the
date, isnt this great...vow...........I am
really so happy....I was so worried about
the pregnancy of my wife and we really did
not want any child(you see now i am using
I did not but earlier I was writing like
we do not, It means that now pregnancy is
a matter of past).
I am in germany now and she is back in
india (new delhi) alone with my family
members and I could not have told this
thing to my family that we did not want
the child otherwise they would have not
felt happy with our decesion, but now no
one has to be worried about anything...I
was unnecessarliy thinking a lot but
sometime you have to think if you do not
want the things go wrong.
I am sharing this since with you as I am
so happy now, and thanks for you to share
your feelings and knowledge...
Today is a grt day for
me..................
Thanks,
Mahen

MAHEN- Abortion does not affect future
pregnancy. 1 or 10.
I have had 3 abortions, but I do not like
abortion by pill, so I had surgical. Much
faster and less painful.

Congratulations, Mahen. I am very excited
for you that you and your wife got the
answer you were looking for!
Just for reference, Cari is right.
Abortion will not affect future
pregnancies, and if one day she ever does
have to have an abortion you two will
still be able to have children in the
future.
Congratulations again, and definitely if
you can get some Plan B for the medicine
cabinet just incase if it happens again
someday so you won't have to worry like
this next time!

Hi Sarah,
I have just come into office, and since
Friday I am on the top of the world, I got
what I wanted.
Moral of the story is: Even you still have
sex with condom but condom wants you to be
father you can still go for another friend
called Ipill. So from next time I will
have Ipill in my drawer.
