OK. I am seriously freaking out. My first pregnancy ended in a salpingectomy. I went for my first u/s at 9 weeks and found out I had a ruptured tube so emergency surgery it was. My husband and I started trying again this month. Based on an ovulation calculator we were right on target. I would have ovulated around the 15th (today is the 23) and 2 days ago I started having pinpricks/achy pains in my left side. I have never experienced this before and have had one or 2 on the right side where I have no tube. everything has been regular so no gastrointestinal problems. my sense of smell is increased and my breasts feel very heavy but a negative pregnancy test. babyhopes.com says its too early for a test to tell. Is this too early to have symptoms of an ectopic? I did not have any symptoms at all before so am I just paranoid? Any ideas on what else it could be? Is my doctor going to think I am nuts and commit me? Has anyone else had these symptoms this early? Does anyone know how early you can have ectopic symptoms??

It is too early to have symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy. The pain that is associatied with an ectopic pregnancy usually occurs at 4-6 weeks after conception. By then the tube is signifigantly stretched, causing pain.

I have had an ectopic pregnancy. I was 3 months along. It is such severe pain, spotting and very very painful back pain plus spotting. I didn't know I was pregnant, b/c I still had my cycle. I found out when I went to the hospital then had to have emergency surgery. Believe me its VERY painful, you won't be able to handle it. You would know. If you are concerned then have them to an vag ultra sound to clear your mind.
