Does anybody know what the chances are of becoming pregnant while taking ortho tri cyclen lo? I take my pill every day at the same time, but this time my partner did not wear a condom and didn't pull out either..Just a little bit worried! Should I go get Plan B to be safe? Shocked

There is no logic in taking birth control pills and using condoms at the same time because each method is effective enough in preventing pregnancy to be used alone. In fact, the effectiveness of Ortho-tri-cyclen Lo is more than 97%. I don't think you need plan B to be safe. Nonetheless, if you're worried you can take precautionary measures.

Certainly, you can use a condom if you want to be protected from STDs beside pregnancy. This is the real reason why health care practitioners advise using both: pills for contraception and condoms for protection against disease.

I think you should be OK but if you think you should just incase take plan B then take it (its your body). I also had alil scare like this and i took plan B but i wasnt on birth control at the time. There is always a chance you can get pregnant even if you take birth control.

He didn't say not to, just that it wasn't really needed. Wink

Babyangelboo, if you've been taking your pills correctly then you were protected from pregnancy. Having sex without condoms is weird when you're used to condoms or even doubling up birth controls, but you were protected.

If you've slipped up with taking your pills then take plan b, but if you take them correctly then plan b isn't really needed.

Plan B is not needed. If taken, it may mess up your hormonal balance and cause your period to come early. It would be advisable if you missed a pill, but not if you are taking them all on time.

If he ejaculates inside of you you are still just as protected. The pill prevents you from ovulating, so even if his sperm get inside of you there is no egg there for him to fertilize.

If you've been on birth control for a while (2-3 months) and have established a normal (non-ovulating) menstrual cycle, I'd say that there's probably small chance of getting pregnant. If you're sleeping with multiple partners, however, and have an active sex life...I'd suggest you use a condom every time.
