Every Civilization Has Practiced Abortion

Some people point to abortion as evidence
of moral decline of modernity.
There isn't anything "modern" about
abortion. Abortion has been practiced by
every civilization that exists or has ever
existed, since the beginning of time.
Quote:
tr> To facilitate
understanding of the controversial subject
of abortion, its historical background is
reviewed, followed by consideration of the
contemporary indications for therapeutic
abortion and the current legal abortion
practices in the US. An ancient practice,
the records of almost every civilization
indicate knowledge of abortifacient and
abortion techniques.

Quote:
tr> Abortion is
probably the world's most common surgical
procedure. About 46 million abortions are
performed every year, 20 million of them
illegal. Abortion is practiced widely by
women all over the world, across all
social classes, and regardless of laws
against abortion. Since the beginning of
recorded history, abortion has been
commonly practiced by almost all
societies, including ancient China, Egypt,
Greece, Rome, and countless others. In
fact, abortion could be called a
fundamental aspect of human behaviour.
About 35 out of every 1000 women of
childbearing age have an abortion each
year. That's an average of one abortion
for every woman over her lifetime.

Even infantucide has been practiced
widely:
Quote:
tr>
Infanticide has been practiced on every
continent and by people on every level of
cultural complexity, from hunters and
gatherers to high civilization, including
our own ancestors. Rather than being an
exception, then, it has been the rule.
There is ample historical evidence to
document the incredible propensity of
parents to homicide their children under
an assortment of stressful situations. In
nineteenth century England, for example,
infanticide was so rampant throughout the
country that a debate over how to correct
the problem was carried out in both the
lay and medical press.

Great point Chriss!!!
Even in the bible there is alot of mention
of abortions being performed as well as
history, usually through poison or other
methods.

"In fact, abortion could be called a
fundamental aspect of human behavior."
just because it was practiced in the past
doesn't make it a "fundamental aspect of
human behavior". homicide has been
practiced since the beginning of time does
that make it fundamental?!
Rome had the coliseum also, so under your
mindset lets throw people into dens of
lions and call it fundamental!
and your dissertation on infantucide
(correctly spelled infanticide!!!) is
based on incorrect allegations and false
facts. Infanticide was not practiced near
to the degree that this makes it SEEM to
be. This is real propaganda at work!!!!
(Oh yeah... and behaviour is spelled
behavior)

There is a big wide world out there, you

Okay, mister grammar policeman. U and I
are right next to each other on the
keyboard. It's a freaking typo. You might
want to take that stick out of your butt
before you hurt yourself.

That's what people say when they can't
respond to facts and true debate!

Or else you're so desperate to tear
someone down that you pounce on a simple
typo in a very grand and overly dramatic
matter without bothering to notice that...
oops... maybe it was just a typo.
And by the way, "behaviour" is a proper
spelling in Canada, where the link is
from.

If I had something to add to the post, I
would have added it. I was merely
commenting on your somewhat childish
attack on the original poster's typo, and
your very inaccurate attack of a
"misspelled" word that is, in fact,
spelled correctly.

But we've already been through this Birch,
abortion is un-American, which is
apparently the only place that matters.
Their spelling also takes precedence.

Yes, female rights are also un-American.
Evidently only males and corpses should
have the right of deciding how their
bodies are used and by whom, in America.

Throws away the lock and key.
I think life is beautiful, especially when

well.

Because he's been banned for threatening
people on the forum. All of his posts have
been deleted, but the traces of them are
still left in other posts that haven't
been deleted. To be honest, I think you're
better off without reading them
