Excessive shaking cause ? Posted: 04-07-08 21:10pm
My mother was diagnosed 3 yrs ago with
parkinson's. She is on low dose sinemet
along with paxil for depression. Last
Friday I noticed she was shaking quite a
bit more than normal and when I returned
her to the facility that she lives in I
had asked the nurse if she had possibly
missed any of her meds since we were gone
about 4 hours. The nurse informed me that
my mother was hiding meds and when
questioned on where these meds were found
I was told a pill was found on her bed and
one on the dining room table. I don't
consider this to be hiding and my mother
was very upset at this accusation. She has
never refused medication before and I
myself am upset with this nurses attitude
with mom. Again today she had an episode
of shaking greater than normal and this
same nurse called the house PA who took my
mother off her pain medication for her
knee and then ordered urine sample for UTI
!!!! I am so upset since we are private
pay and I don't see the corralation
between the two. I'm so sorry that this is
so lengthy but I just don't know where to
turn. I myself believe this excelerated
shaking may be due to her Parkinson's not
the Darvocet or a UTI. Does anyone have
any idea of how I should deal with this?
I don't see a reason why would be the
nurse lying to you. From the other hand
your mother could have memory loss and
unusual behavior because of the Parkinson
disease and maybe dementia. Darvocet
contains opiate analgesic that may make
your mother more confused.
You can consult some neurologist about
your problem.
