Extreme Swelling and Extreme gauntness Posted: 05-08-08 20:11pm
My mother has completely swollen up in the
past few months so that now she can hardly
move. It started in her ankles and has
gone up her legs to her abdomen. Her legs
and her abdomen are rock hard. She looks
more than 9 months pregnant. she was
always thin until about 5 months ago. The
top part of her body looks anorexic. Her
face is gaunt. Her arms are like sticks.
She is in her 60s. She won't go to a
doctor but is trying a homeopathic remedy
which I do not think is working. Any
guesses on what causes extreme swelling on
the bottem and gauntness on the top? I
need to do something fast!

Indeed you do need to get her to a doctor.
She needs medical attention now. This
could be kidney, liver, or cardiac
related. She is retaining fluid and needs
medication to help her eliminate the
fluid. This could progress to her lungs
and will impair her ability to breath.
I can give you more ideas on specific
diseases or conditions that this may be
but it is of little use to you. She needs
medical attention now. This condition she
is in could be life threatening.
