faking breast cancer ? Posted: 06-20-08 15:18pm
Ok, so my mother-in-law has supposedly had
breast cancer for at least 5 years now.
However, everyone has become skeptical of
her "cancer diagnosis" because:
a) she supposedly had 1 treatment of
chemotherapy but decided she didn't want
to do it anymore. She has had NO other
treatment.
b) she seems perfectly healthy.
c) she has never shown anyone proof that
her cancer exists.
So I was just wondering if anyone could
share their opinions with me. All the
research I've done basically tells me that
she's lying. Even if she had stage 0 or I
cancer, wouldn't she at least need a
lumpectomy? Or wouldn't she at least
appear to be ill? I just think it would be
very low of her to lie about something
like this, although I wouldn't put it past
her. She is very attention-seeking.
Also, if she supposedly had chemo,
wouldn't that be an advanced stage of
breast cancer? And wouldn't her survival
rate be much less since she hasn't had any
treatments?
I just don't know what to think about this
anymore...

Hi Sweetie! Me Fairy*Godmother Posted: 06-21-08 15:42pm
Recently diagnose with stage 1 breast
cancer. Ductal carcinoma insitu (DCIS). It
was found during a mammogram, then had a
sonogram, then local needle biopsy. I then
had lumpectomy to remove, but margins were
not clean, so, 8 weeks and 2 days ago I
had mastectomy. Becasue my lumph nodes
came back clean and the tumor was 2-5 cms,
I opted for the Ocontypedx test. This is a
test that tells if you'd benefit form
chemo along with the tamoxifen. I can't
for the life of me tell you why she is NOT
taking tamoxifen or another hormaone
therapy drug. Any woman diagnosed with
breast cancer has SOME sort of treatment.
Now, you know the basics, you could ask
her questions....how did you find the
spot/lump. COuld you feel it? did it hurt?
Did the doctor biopsy it, or remove it? I
did NOT have to take radiation or chemo
(Thank you God). I will take Tamoxifen
for the first 5 years or until I'm thrown
into menopause, then I will be changed to
another type of hrormone therapy drug for
5-10 years. Oh, ask her how long did she
have to sit and have the Chemo treatment
(its an IV and can sometimes take 4-6
hours the first time! Tell her you have a
friend recently diagnosed and she's scared
and curious and you told her you'd ask
your Mother in law. She has breast cancer.
Does your Mother in law continue to go for
mammograms? If, she indeed HAS breast
cancer, she may have to go on a 6 month
basis instead of every
year............feel free to PM if you
need any more info. Sounds like and
attention getting scam to me as well. I on
the other hand, am in the process of
getting reconstruction! Hopefully by end
of summer I'll have a new rack!!!! Hugs!

Listen to F*GM! She has been through hell
and back and knows what she is talking
about. She is a sweetie and my heart goes
out to her. My mother is in her end 2nd
stage lung cancer. She is now having
Hospice in and on very strong narcotics
for pain. She does not look like she has
cancer. She just looks like she is getting
old and hard to breath. I lost my
grandmother and greatgrandmother to breast
cancer. It runs in our family on mom's
side.
I would talk with her like F*GM said and
see. My mom also opted out of treatment.
It is thier choice.

Thank you, Fairy Godmother. I'm sorry to
hear about your cancer and mastectomy -
but it sounds like you're beating it! I'll
keep you in my thoughts.
No, she is not on any medication. Nor does
she get regular treatment. I called her
out on it about a week ago (I told her she
was faking her cancer) and I'm not sure if
I'm comfortable enough to ask questions
about it right now. Plus (and I found this
out for myself, and I DON'T have cancer)
there are programs for low-income
individuals to help with the cancer
screening and treatment process. I would
think that if she indeed has cancer, she
would've discovered this years ago instead
of making excuses as to why she isn't
getting treatment.

HI Girlfriend! Posted: 06-25-08 15:57pm
If in deed she had/has cancer, you would
know it........there are lots of places
that provide mammograms and treatments to
those who otherwise could not afford it.
Therefore, this is no excuse for her not
to go fo mammograms OR treatment. Sure you
got some hard heads who are wussies about
taking radiation or chemo, but in the long
run, you are getting to spend more times
with your loved ones........selfish people
who those who only think of themselves,
loosing their hair, nausea, various side
effects.........I say bull****. Think of
little chidren in burn centers....going
htrough a lot worse..........I kinda want
to say if your mother in law has breast
cancer....then I'm a virgin......Breast
cancer is treatable....if caught in time.
Negligence and ignorance and wanting
attention is STUPID! Adding you to my
