False Negatives?

How many of you have had a false neg test? The reason I ask is because aunt flo is late, but since I never pay much attention, I have no idea how late it is. I would guess a couple of weeks. I keep expecting it to show up any day, but nada. So I tetsted on Sunday and got a negative, so I wonder if any of you have had a false negative? Also, it's important to note that I had my tubes tied, so it's a very distant possibility, but weird things happen. Anyone know the stats on pregnancy post tubal ligation? scared

I don't know the stats on that, but I do know that my aunt had hers done (I'm assuming that the procedure is the same now as it was then) and she said it messed up her periods. That they were irregular and when she did get them they were really heavy. Hope that helps.

A friend of mine had her tubes tied after her second child 4 years ago. Two years later, she found out she was pregnant again. Come to find out, the doctor that performed her tubal only tied ONE of her tubes.

My late grandmother was sterilised but went on to become pregnant. She was 18 weeks before the doctors would believe her! That was back in the 60s though lol!

I would say you're not pregnant Heather, I'm sure a test would have shown something by now. It's likely just a dodgy period.

I'm sending menstrual vibes your way! Mr.

I think you should call your dr. I'm sure if you tell them they will do a blood test. Just to make sure it's not something serious. (ie tubal pregnancy)

I just googled it & found this:

A recent study has estimated that 143 women in 10,000 get pregnant after a tubal ligation, making the percentage about 1.43% which is better coverage than you’ll likely get from other forms of birth control. In these rare cases, the fallopian tubes often grow back together, allowing the egg to come down and be fertilized and then move into the uterus. Many of these pregnancies actually turn out to be ectopic pregnancies because of the damage done to the tube during a tubal ligation.

Definitely see your doctor if you don't get your period, just to be sure!
