Finally... he's here.. and vent.

He is here. He weighed 5'7 ounces. I
pushed for 2 minutes, only two pushes..
well I guess it was four.. cause... the
nurse had me push twice before the doctor
got there and he was out. They had me on
pitocin for 2 hours before they broke my
water... they did that at 11:30 I was 2
centimeiters dialated. I had him at 6:43.
He was 18 1/2 inches long. He lost down to
5'2 the day he came home. Last night we
were up late..cause Either he had gas or
was constipated... But I think he may
finally be over that.. I was crying so
bad... It was so frustrating.. I could
not get him to latch on... It is so hard
to get him to latch when he is
sick...especially when all you do is
breast feed. I feel like I am doing it all
on my own.. and I am.. It is not as easy
as I thought... not like I can take him to
his mommy when he is fussy.. I am his
mommy.. His sperm donor has not called has
not come by... and he knew what day that I
was going to have him. I feel just so
frustrated. I will post pictures later...
I have to feed him.. he is waking up.

Congrats! It's completely normal for them
to lose a little weight, my little one
lost 7oz when she came home. Just keep at
the breastfeeding, it'll get easier with
time, I promise! (if you start to hurt,
call the doctor! it's not fun when they
start to crack and bleed, trust me) if
he's hungry enough, he'll latch on.
A good way to help with his gas and/or
constipation is put him on your lap on his
tummy with his legs dangling and pat/rub
his lower back. Try gas drops (they are a
little pricey, but definitely worth their
weight) if he's dry and full.
Good Luck!!

If he doesn't have a good latch, remember
to break the suction with your finger
before you take him off. Tickle his face
with your nipple in an up-down direction,
from his nose down to his chin. Keep doing
this over and over until he opens his
mouth super-wide like he's about to yawn,
then stuff as much of your nipple in there
as you can. If he starts to pull back,
correct his latch again. You might end up
correcting it multiple times, but remember
that he's new at this too and he'll need
to be taught how to latch properly. It
gets easier. Don't give up. You can pm me
anytime if you need tips.
Congrats on your son!

Thank you all for Your suggestions and
comments.. It is nice to hear that I have
some support. My cousin got shot in the
stomach last night with a bb gun.. My
brother had a few of the kids outside with
him and one of the kids went to
sna]tch the gun from him.. and got
shot in the stomach and the bb lodged in
his liver.. they can not operate... cause
it is to dangerous.

I've never heard of
a BB breaking through the skin! If it
doesn't cause any blockage, it should be
fine. The only problem would be infection,
which is nasty, so keep on top of it. I'm
sorry you have to go through that with a
baby! The best of luck to both of you!

I'm curious why they think it's too
dangerous to operate? Liver gunshot wounds
are treated surgically quite often with no
complications. Maybe they're opting to
leave it in because the risk of surgery
outweighs the risk of leaving the BB in?
Maybe it's a minor injury, so the risks of
surgery can be avoided.

Maybe.. I got the phone call last night in
the middle of him fussing.. I did not have
time to get much detail. I know that they
don't normally break skin.. I guess at
really close range tho.. any thing is
possible. I am waiting now for the
pictures to be emailed to me.

congrats
it IS really difficult. if you think hes
having problems with constipation you
might want to try letting him soak in a
baby tub (you can get a little sling time
thing that goes on/in the baby tub so just
his little booty would be in the water)
and run water over him, under his stump
(with a cup or something) then when you
take him out put a bunch of patroleum
jelly/a+d ointment and (i know its GROSS
but it helps) put a little bit in his
booty, it really helps, val use to have
horrible problems with constipation and it
helped SO much
also dont be too conserned about the
weight, val was born at 8 lbs 10 oz and
when we left the hospital she was down to
8 lbs and it was fine (a few days later
she was down to 7 lbs and then they
started to worry, but thats not the
point)
i cant really help you on the breast
feeding, it didnt work for me, have you
tried cutting things out of your diet that
could be causing problems?

congratulations!!!
eadie had a lot of problems with gas in
the beginning because i had too much milk
and the thin milk was making her gassy.
if you are getting a little engorged you
can try pumping a little milk out by hand
before feeding him so he is able to get
some of the hind milk before he gets too
full. the milk they get at the beginning
is thinner and the milk that they get
after they've fed for a while has more fat
so it slows down the digestion and is
easier on their tummy. i had lots of
problems with her being fussy in the
evenings because of that until i figured
out what was wrong.
just thought i'd tell you that in case
it's the same for you.
as for the latch, make sure you bring him
to you rather than leaning forward to put
your nipple in his mouth. i had problems
with this in the beginning too because i
was always hunching over trying to get my
nipple in her mouth but it can cause a lot
of discomfort and bad latching.
good luck and stick with it! it gets
easier once you get over the learning part
at the beginning.

Wow! I didn't know a bb gun could
penetrate not only the skin but the
abdominal muscle wall and get into the
liver. That must be one powerful gun. Did
the police seize it? Will there be charges
filed? That sounds like it would be
assault with a deadly weapon.

Congrats!!!
Sometime breastfeeding sounds so
overwhelming. Some of the ladies here gave
some wonderful advice though. I hope it
works out for you!

Congrats!
My Reyna went from 6lb 2oz to 5lb 13oz
before leaving the hospital. She was so
tiny!
And about the breastfeeding thing, there
are these pillows that wrap around you and
support your back and help support the
baby. I have 2 and LOVE LOVE LOVE them.
They are called my Brest Friend and
Lansinoh makes one called My Best Friend.
