FIRDA and assymetrical discharges in eeg ? Posted: 06-03-08 15:13pm
I was diagnosed with depression about 13
years ago and have been on meds since with
success most of the time (apart from the
expected downs every now and then). I
initially went to my GP for 2 reasons. 1.
I still have Galactorrhea since the birth
of my twins 8 years ago and 2) I was
feeling that my med mybe weren't working
quite as well as they should. My
yardstick by which I usually measure my
mental health is my level of irritability!
Lets just say, I'm surprised my man and
kids still love me...
My GP mentioned Temporal lobe epilepsy for
the 2nd time in 2 years (the 1st time I
ignored his request for an eeg- thought he
was mad!) so this time I went. Really
thought it was a waste of time. Never had
any of the symptoms I've read about it. My
results came back as follows:
- Slow theta and delta waves discharges
during hyperventilation - higher amplitude
in left temporal lobe
- Frontal intermittent rhythmically delta
activity seen once
- No epileptiformic dysrhythmias seen
My gp is sending me for an MRI tomorrow.
Damn the internet and all its information.
I've worked myself up into a frenzy. Its
just bad news according to all the sites
I've googled. I'm really confused because
I really don't feel I have TLE but whats
up with the eeg then?
