First pregnancy doctor appointment Posted: 04-27-08 22:02pm
Hello everyone, I am brand new here. I
found this site and it seems really
resourceful. I am 25 years old in a
relationship, and have no other children.
Anyways I just found out I am pregnant,
not planned. I just made my first
appointment at the drs and I was wondering
what to expect?? I am in the nursing
field so I do know about the baby and what
not, but I just don't know what I am
instore for at my first appointment?? If
anyone could let me know, I would
appreciate it.
Thanks

At my first appointment, they asked about
my last cycle, gave me a due date and
asked how I was feeling. I was already
established at this office so I didn't
have to answer history questions. They
also scheduled me for my first ultrasound
and prenatal bloodwork which I had at
around 9 1/2 weeks along. My doctor waited
that long to ensure that he could see a
heartbeat and date my pregnancy
accordingly. My due date changed at that
time as well because my cycles were
irregular.

Thanks for the reply. I do have an
established doctor, so he knows my
history. I have just been worked up
wondering what tests they would put me
through or what to expect. So at least I
have a heads up on whats in store for me.

at my first appt i had to fill out
paperwork with my family history and my
dh's family history. They also did my
weight, blood pressure, u/s (we had no
clue how far along i could have been b/c i
had not been ovulating and we had been
trying), they took 6 tubes of blood. It
was a pretty easy appt. Good luck!!!!!!
Dont worry about it, it was a piece of
cake!!!!

Thank you guys for the replys I really
appreciate it. I won't be as nervous
going into my first appointment now that I
know what it entails. I guess now that
reality is setting in and the inital shock
is over, we are getting excited.
