I went to the doctor and the pee test
confirmed that there was not sugar or
white blood cells in my urine. The doctor
told me it wasn't and infection, but they
would "treat it like one". Then I later
realize on of the prescriptions he gave me
(doxycycline) is also used to treat an
STD.
It doesn't burn when I pee, but I am
having some abdominal/bladder pain.
I haven't had sex in at least the past
month if not longer, and both my
girlfriend and I have only ever been with
each other.
The fact that they gave me medicine for
things we've already confirmed it isn't
worries me.
Can anyone help?
I'm a 20 year old male, no history of
urinary tract infections, who doesn't
drink, smoke, or do drugs.

Hi and welcome to ehealth
Doxycyline is used for many infections
including acne, respiratory, genital, and
urinary systems and more. It also works in
preventing malaria for people who travel.
Do have a follow up with your doctor? Did
they do an ultrasound or scan?
Did he mention the possibility of a kidney
infection?

Thank you :]
That information about doxycyline is
reassuring!
He basically said if it doesn't get better
after a few days (or maybe he said weeks?)
I should come back.
There was no ultrasound or no scan and he
said nothing about a kidney infection :\
