Friend an alcoholic ...what can I do? Posted: 03-31-08 21:11pm
So, I have this problem. I'm in college
and so is my best friend. We live in
separate towns and go to separate schools.
My friend is only 19 so she can't legally
drink, but I think she's an alcoholic.
She drinks everyday all the time. Instead
of drinking water or soda she drinks wine,
she goes out to bars every night and wakes
up in ditches passed out. She even
started smoking marijuana... I just don't
know what to do for her. I told her she
needs to stop drinking and smoking, but
she won't listen to me. Now, she's
missing classes and failing most of her
classes. She just admitted that she
thinks she's an alcoholic on the phone to
me, which is what made me write this. The
problem is though, she doesn't care if
she's an alcoholic. She said she's young
and "she'll worry about it when she turns
35." Thanks for the help

She has to want to quit. Untill he is out
of denial and faces the fact she has a
drinking problem, there is really nothing
you can do but be there for her. And if
she does not care, that make it even
thougher.
