I have read that babies can be born that
weight at full term, 37 to 38 weeks &
be fine. normal average weight is
6lbs-8lbs, but a 5 lbr can do good as
well.

Full-term does not pertain to weight. It
pertains to the week the baby is born.
Full-term describes babies born after 36
weeks.

Full Term babies typically weigh more than
about 5lbs, 8oz. But, a baby of any birth
week could weigh anything.

That does not describe full term.
It describes being viable and not needing
to be placed in the NICU.
Like I said, "full-term" pertains to the
gestational AGE of a baby, NOT weight.

My friend delivered her baby at 40wks
(full-term) and she weighed 5lb 6oz.
If the baby wasn't full term, they would
have put the weeks gestated on the
paperwork. My baby was born at 38wks and
they had to write that down instead of
full term.
