Is it possible for an african-american and
a caucasian to produce a child with blue
eyes? I remeber learning in high school
biology that it was not possible. I'm
african-american and my husband is
caucasian and we have a daughter with
brown eyes, much to his disappointment.
His nephew also married and
african-american woman and they have
daughter with blue eyes. Is this
possible?

Brown eyes are dominant. A recessive gene
can win out if it's present on both sides.
Did the woman have a mother or father with
blue eyes?

I don't know if the mother has parents
with blue eye, very unlikely though. I
will find out and write back. Is this the
only way this is possible? Thanks for
repsonding.

Like Aya said, Brown is dominant. Meaning
if you have brown eyes, chances are high
that your kids will have brown. On the
other hand, blue is recessive, so it's
more likely that two blue eyed people will
have a brown eyed baby than two brown eyed
people to have a blue eyed baby.
