I'am 2 months and a week pregnant now and suffering from genital herpes.I got sores in my genital area and haven't seen a doctor for now. When my husband notice it, he gave me valtrex but as soon as i take it once, i got bleeding when i urinate so I stopped taking it. Now I am using zovirax ointment but the sores started to multiply now.. Can i get some advice from you on what should i do to prevent it. Is it safe for me to continue taking valtrex? thank you so much!I'll wait for the reply...

I am currently pregnant with my third child and I have genital herpes. I take acyclovir, for my body reacts badly to Valtrex. Get a doctor's prescription for it, take it as prescribed, and they will go away. You may not even need the cream. Also, make sure that when you get close to labor to check for lesions or have the doctor check you before labor. If you have a child go through the birth canal when you have lesions present, you may cause your baby to become blind, and possibly die (that is what my doctor told me). I know this seems a long while away, but it is a good thing to think about now. I had an emergency Cesarean and a scheduled cesarean with my second. Do not worry; many people have the same STD as we do and have children all the time. By the way, you can breastfeed if you have genital herpes; I did with both my children and they do not have it.

UTI after herpes
thanks for the reply. My lesions were presently disappeared. Though I'm afraid, I took valtrex for the second time and it didnt cause any except that it affects my bladder so I stopped using it again as soon as the lessions were gone. I thought I had UTI before I took it. My husband is a doctor but not an OBgyne and he told me that valtrex is really safe. But this time, I think I should be more careful when taking meds...tnx again for useful info...
