Ghost Pain

Had a tooth removed about a year ago, a rear molar, right next to the wisdom. All was very well, but recently I began getting sensitivity to hot and cold in the area where the tooth was! Weird. No pain, just can't handle anything too hot or too cold in that area. Can anything be done without having the nerve or whatever is left in there dug out by force? Keep in mind that, no offense, I fear the dentist more than terrorism!

Could my guy have left something in there?

diagnosis could be made with and xray and vitality test to the near tooth so you should go to your dentist
